The TD-8616 is light weight, has an on/off switch (appears to be a positive to me as my old modem didn't have one). The connection speed seems good (on AT&T). I haven't figured out a way around having to sign on to connect each time I boot up or switch users--'might be a safety feature, I don't know at this point. Now to some minor drawbacks (at least for me): the supplied cables are too short
